Metropolitan Area Long-Term Economic Forecast

Despite current challenges, The Perryman Group's long-term projections indicate that all of the state's metropolitan statistical areas are likely to experience employment expansion over the next thirty years. Economic activity and growth will continue to be concentrated in the state's largest metropolitan areas, but smaller population centers will also contribute to overall expansion. The Perryman Group's latest long-term projections are highlighted in this issue.

The South Texas Region

The South Texas Region includes 28 counties and the Brownsville-Harlingen, Corpus Christi, Laredo, and McAllen-Edinburg-Mission metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs). With approximately 2.5 million residents, the area represents 8.13% of the state's total population.
